Orlando has a reputation for being expensive, and the theme parks earn it. But some of the best things to do here cost nothing at all: lakes, gardens, museums with free hours, live music and springs-fed parks.
Here are the best free things to do in Orlando, plus a few that cost less than $10. Hours and free days change, so check before you go.
Free in downtown Orlando
- Lake Eola Park. Walk the 0.9-mile loop around the lake, see the swans and the fountain, and on Sundays browse the Downtown Orlando Farmers Market (10 AM to 3 PM). The swan-shaped paddle boats cost extra.
- Free movies at Seneff Arts Plaza. The Dr. Phillips Center runs free outdoor movie nights on the plaza, no tickets needed.
- The holiday season downtown. From December 4, the Lake Eola tree show, the Holiday Projection Show at the Orange County Regional History Center, holiday movies and a Saturday concert are all free. See Orlando events in December 2026.
- Thornton Park and Ivanhoe Village. Two walkable neighborhoods with murals, shops and lakes, close to Lake Eola.
Free in Winter Park
- The Morse Museum. Home to the most comprehensive collection of Louis Comfort Tiffany's work, including the chapel he built for the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. Admission is free on Fridays from 4 to 8 PM, November through April, and children under 12 are always free.
- Rollins Museum of Art. Free admission, on the Rollins College campus.
- Park Avenue and Central Park. Window shopping, the Saturday Winter Park Farmers Market (8 AM to 1 PM) and the park across the street.
- Mead Botanical Garden and Kraft Azalea Garden. Two quiet gardens with trails and lake views, both free.
Free outdoors
- Orlando Wetlands Park in Christmas, about 40 minutes east. Miles of trails through restored marsh, with alligators, wading birds and some of the best birding in Central Florida. Free.
- The trails. The West Orange Trail (through Winter Garden) and the Cady Way Trail (Orlando to Winter Park) are paved and great for walking or biking.
- Harry P. Leu Gardens charges admission most days but holds free admission days through the year. Check leugardens.org for the schedule.
- Watch a rocket launch. Launches from Cape Canaveral can be seen from the coast, and on clear nights from Orlando itself. Our rocket launch viewing guide explains where to go.
Free at the theme park areas
- Disney Springs. Free to enter and free to park in its garages. Shops, live music and the waterfront at night.
- Universal CityWalk. Free to walk around; the garages charge for parking at most times.
- Old Town in Kissimmee. Free to walk in, with rides that cost extra and regular free car shows.
- Celebration. Walk the lake and Market Street, and in December see Now Snowing, which is free.
Almost free (under $10)
- Wekiwa Springs and Blue Spring state parks. Florida state parks charge about $6 per car for the whole carload. Wekiwa has a 72°F spring for swimming; Blue Spring is the place to see manatees in winter. See our springs guide.
- SunRail. The commuter train between DeBary and Poinciana is an easy, cheap way to reach downtown and Winter Park without parking.
Tips for doing Orlando cheap
- Drink water and pack snacks. Theme park area prices are the real budget killer.
- Park once. Downtown, Winter Park and Thornton Park are each walkable once you're there.
- Watch the free days. Museum and garden free days are the best value in town.
